Global-E receives $193M investment from Shopify
The article mentions a 6.5% which would put the company over a $3B valuation. Seems high for what it is? Borderfree was acquired about 6 years ago for $400M by Pitney Bowes at the height of the cross-border craze. Granted, eCommerce is bigger now!

I can’t figure out what they need so much funding for? The only answer I can come up with would be continued international expansion. The other reason might be the increasing competition in the space.

I truly can’t figure out why Wix would need to buy this. Why not partner? I can’t imagine Rise was not making enough money to be independent? There is more here than meets the eye. Says the company will keep operating independently.

The only worry with Recurate is this is getting to be a well-worn space now. Too late?

I thought the best way to get funding was to add “ship” to your name. Perhaps I was wrong. “Headless” is apparently the word you’re looking for. Seriously though, it looks like Shopistry is a data connector play plus a CMS. Is it it’s own eCom platform? Not certain. It connects to Shopify and others.

Impressive amount of traction for a young startup. It wants to be the connectivity layer between the eCom platform and all sorts of interesting B2B payment scenarios, so that as a merchant you don’t need to build these custom.

$50M at a $1B+ valuation is extremely unusual in this world. The headline says they want to acquire companies which means this is just a cash-flow raise. Strong positive signal.

I think this idea could have legs. Every 3PL and participant in the supply chain ecosystem needs a connectivity solution.

What’s significant about these guys is they are rolling up smaller players that no one has ever heard of. Which means to me they could be significant in particular in the B2B space.
