You Cannot Catch Up - Focus on Right Now

I still find it fascinating.

You have dozens, maybe hundreds of employees. You are spending millions of dollars on many new initiatives.

They watched years pass by as market trends developed and passed. Competitors built and rebuilt. Yet many companies out there are in such a hurry to do "something" ANYTHING to catch up. Immediately.

Let me let you in on a little secret. You can't "catch up" and you shouldn't even try. The world is different. Consumers are different than they used to be. You can't rewind the tape and then play it forward again with a different outcome. You can only plan your next few moves.

Repeat after me: "You are where you are for a reason." The sooner you accept it, the more realistic you can make your plans and start thinking about why consumers should care about what you are doing RIGHT NOW and in the near future.
