Silicon Valley Business Journal: eBay enters exclusive partnership with returns startup Optoro

I was quoted in an article in the Silicon Valley Business Journal recently, talking about eBay’s new partnership with Optoro. Excerpt below.

In a LinkedIn post, New York e-commerce consultant Rick Watson said there was almost no downside for eBay, but that “the upside is also extremely limited.”

“This is one of those $1 billion ideas that only work on a spreadsheet: each party is only looking at their part, and not the entire supply chain,” Watson wrote.

“The big question I have for you is this: Is eBay inventory-constrained? Or is it customer experience constrained?” Watson noted that distressed inventory is “abundant and worth zero” and that solutions for this already exist
