Conversations on AI, GPT-3 with Haptik

Many people probably don't know some of my backstory. Before I was in eCommerce directly, I pretty much grew up in technology. This peaked when I went to Vanderbilt University for grad school in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science - and studied in their Intelligent Robotics Lab.

At that time, we were studying neural networks and using them for all sorts of applications:

  • computer vision

  • camera-based object recognition

  • robotic arm / vehicle control systems

Many of them modeled in Matlab but often implemented in C++ on PCs or workstations and/or written into memory (EEPROM etc).

That's why a recent webinar put on my the folks at Haptik was so interesting to me, on the recent advances in natural language processing under GPT-3, a new model by OpenAI. We talk about applications, risks, ethics, capabilities, and all sorts of other interesting topics. Swapan even does a few live demonstrations!

The artificial intelligence field has changed a lot, but some of the neural network principles are exactly the same. Inputs, training, feedback loops, and outputs.

Haptik has also launched an independent community called Conversations on AI which talks about this more as well.

Thanks Swapan Rajdev for having me and Aakrit Vaish for the kind invitation.
