Building A Business Is Not Building A Website
It's much easier to build an eCommerce website than it is to build a business. Here's a hint - it's not (only) about the website.
What many companies (still) don't realize is that technology without business planning is like a Hollywood set showing a fake city block in the movies. It certainly looks nice in a few minutes, but don't confuse it for an actual city.
So many companies start from the wrong place. They start with technology and move outward. Let’s build a website first, and think about all the other parts later. Rather than the correct approach — let’s build starting at the customer first.
Technology requires design, integration, and installation.
Businesses require differentiation, knowledge of the customer, planning, recruiting, skills development, organization, coordination, processes, culture, and follow-through. Technology too.
See the difference?
If culture eats strategy for breakfast, then it eats technology-only thinking for lunch and dinner without proper business planning.
