Let's play buzzword bingo for a moment, shall we? What is DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION? 

Not what it is, technically, because it's a meaningless term like "synergize."  But why does the CEO get it in their head that they need a digital transformation?

One reason is that they just fired their CIO because the company has 20-year-old software systems that no one understands and don't talk to each other anymore.  Of course, this doesn't sound so good when you explain it on your Wall St. earnings call. 

It sounds a lot nicer to talk about digital transformation to serve the customer.
